Resolved Question: what does "get with ~" means?

in the following article, what does "receive with ~" means? ================================ ... A swimmer spots a shark just feet away and back on the surface, her terror is visible and understandable. "I receive with these big sharks. The damage they can do, I've seen it and it's too much for me." Yet she and her friends pick to jump back into the water to bait them with the sight of pale flesh. The odor of blood and urine. Even the flash of jewelry. every part of a stunning experiment to prove that sharks are not mindless man-eaters after every. ... =================================== cf) i'm learning English as a foreigner now.

Resolved Question: Fishing tips: Santa Monica Pier?

Hi, First time fishing off of Santa Monica pier, I would be using light tackle. Common fish caught are Shark, Halibut. More common than both are white croaker (tom cod), queenfish (herring), sardines, walleye surfperch, salema, sargo, scorpionfish (sculpin), kelp bass (calico bass), sand bass, Pacific mackerel, jack mackerel (Spanish mackerel), and bonito (on live bait or bubbles with a feather). Occasionally, barracuda, white seabass or even yellowtail. I have no Idea what bait or rig to catch fish to use. I was planning on using strips of fish or squid on a hook with a light sinker and maybe even a bobber. Anybody have any better suggestions? Thanks

Resolved Question: What feelings are conveyed by my Poem? Door no.2. The Fishing Trip?

Even though I dislike fishing, I decided to give it a try, As I walked down the dock, Door no.2 appeared, wonder why? Got into my boat, glad, every my gear on hand, Went out to the deep sea, A land lubber lost without dry land. Two dead friends appeared, Saying give us a pole, O.K. I said sadistically, While devising my new role. Man overboard,I screamed, As I pushed him into the water, Then fished, hooked him, knives, Filleting him into quarters. He lay bleeding on deck, A gutted, human fish, Only one more left, Death's final sick wish. Then hooked the last dead pal, Right behind the ear, Reeling him in close to me, Showing Satan no fear. He thought,as he knelt before me, Now he will be saved, Hell no,as he got thrown in, Turned into shark bait by the motor blades, Sadly, only one more dead pal, Tale I have to go, First off, watch out, whale's head, Thar she blows. >>>T.B.O.<<< byeeexxx

Resolved Question: Bluefish head as shark bait...?

Fisherman's question, have any of you ever tried this? I looked into it and I found out that sharks will indeed go after bluefish, but would the head be enough? I tried skate wing last year with no results whatsoever. Long story short, I'm sleepy of catching sand sharks and want to receive something bigger from the shore. Give me some recommendations because this year I'm aiming to catch something like a sand tiger, bull, sandbar, or dusky this year (at nighttime of course). I don't possess nor do I know how to operate a kayak so I cannot use big bait.

Resolved Question: Short story editing help?

I had to write a short story for my English two honors class (10th Grade) just tell me if it is ok and if i should add anything. The promt is something that happened when you were little but with an unrealistic twist. Here it is. The Catch It was a hot summer day on the docks of Tampa Bay. Our family took an outing to the docks on the bay to try our luck catching some fish. The fish seemed like they would never cease coming, a rhythm would arrive, catch, reel and release catch, reel and release. Then out of the murky water was a big gray shape that moved with a fluent flick of the tail coming right to the dock. The old fishermen that had grown wise to years of experience told everyone to reel up their lines, and as I began to reel it up, it stopped with a jerk as a knot tied itself into the reel. The shape swam forward; right to the bait on the end of my hook, then it opened its jaws and swallowed it like it was a pill. The rod lurched forward with a violent motion while I was still holding it. As I tried to unstrap myself from the pole I felt myself plunge into dark, icy, lifeless water. I felt myself being dragged below the waves struggling for the air that I desperately needed. As I tumbled behind the fish I had no idea what was up, and what would guide down to certain death. As I flipped and tumbled I took a breath of air just as I got a lucky chance at air, but before I could think I was again taken down. As I fought for my life I made out the shape of what was pulling me, a huge shark with black bad eyes. It spun around and looked at me and decided if I could be lunch. Then tight as he was about to take a big bite, and end my life another shape came in and hit the shark right on the gills. The shark jerked to look what hit him, and his jaws laid an inch away from what saved me, a dolphin with determination in its eyes. It swam around and hit the shark again, but this time on its head. While this was happening I managed to free myself from the straps and gulp down breaths of air while the battle continued. Then with a final strike from the dolphin the shark fell down into the endless abyss of the oceans waters.

Resolved Question: Halibut fishing tips?

I surf and pier fish alot and I've caught alot and every sorts of fish from the surf and pier. But the only thing I have never caught but really want to us a halibut!!!!!! I never caught one the entire time I've been fishing but I really want to. I've caught sharks and stuff on sardines but a halibut never bit on my bait. So now that I got a kayak, I think I could catch one know if I go a little up further I think I could receive one. Most likely I'll be fishing in my yak off Santa Barbara pier I guess I'll receive some live sardines and Mack's while I'm heading out to my spot. Now I need some tips from you guys on where to find them and what to use and the rigs, setup I should use, rod and reel, bait, and anything else would help. I got a fish finder too so I can find em would that he a good idea to use it to locate halibut cause their like buried in the sand but won't it differ on my grayline? That's the line that tells you what nice of cover is on the bottom ( if sandy there will be less grey if difficult or rocky there will be more gray). So should I drift? Still fish? Anything helps and if you guys give me a spot to try that would e awesome. Thanks Tight lines

Resolved Question: Help on choosing saltwater lures?

I need help finding a few go to lures I can use at the beach to catch fish while waiting for my shark line to be hit. I know nothing about what fish will hit what kinds of lures.. I am located in Sarasota FL and this is the beach I fish http://beachingit.com/images/1024/Sarasota-TurtleBeachRight.jpg Snook seems to be the most commonly caught fish, There are also red fish, pompano, ladyfish(help finding these would be great, I use them for shark bait),Whiting and others. What lures would I use that could give me a chance at catching multiple species? Or should I focus specific lures for specific fish? Or should I forget lures altogether and simply use live bait? Also how do I fish the lures (slow medium quick retrieve? twitch? jig? etc.) Thanks in advance and let me know if you need more information!

Resolved Question: How to catch a black tip shark?

I have a surf fishing rod and reel. They are both very strong and reliable. On my regular reel line I tied about a 3 feet of steel line to it and connected another 3 feet of steel line to that. In between these to 3 foot steel line cables I attached a 4 ounce weight. At the end of every this I have a 6/0 circle hook. So basically I have two 3 foot steel lines connected to each other with a 4 ounce weight and a 6/0 hook. For bait I put the hook through both eyes of a frozen 6-7 inch mullet... 5 minutes later I reel in everything and every that is left is either the head of the mullet (whole body gone) or half of the mullet. Can someone give me any tips and tell me what I am doing wrong. I am in South Carolina fishing in the surf for black tip and sting rays. Ones at least 4 feet long. Thanks

Resolved Question: How would one go about kayaking the Juneau Islands?

So here's the deal. I'm on probation so I am not legally aloowed to cross a border or leave the state, but once I'm off probation, probably a couple months, and I have my license I'm leaving Alaska. I am sixteen years old, and I told my parents and they're fine with it, because my dad is a mountain man and supplied me with paramilitary training so they both know I can take care of myself on the streets and in the wilderness. I told them I was going to go anyway with or without their blessing, and thankfully my mom has offered to steer me to anchorage. From there though I'd have to receive a good amount of money if I wanted to take the ferry from here to Seattle. I was once in a kayak, a tiny, on manned kayak, and it was pretty zoomy, so I was thinking I would kayak the Juneau Islands because I'm adventurous anyway. I here there are Orcas and some sharks though, so I was wondering are they further inland, (around the little strips of water between the interior islands) or further out to sea, (just the islands on the outside of Alaska)? Also is there some type of device that keeps them away or any tactics I could apply to make decrease my chances of being shark or orca bait? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks. --No Ordinary Bird, Jon Gull

Resolved Question: What should I do with this guy?

This boy, Victor, asked me as a date for an upcoming fall dance. I really don't want to go with him. I am actually hearing rumors that the guy I like is going to ask me. But Victor is like shark bait for the bullies. He's the one everyone teases, but he really is a sweetheart. And I'm afraid it would crush him if I say no. But I'm student body president and am team captain for our volleyball team. I've got a reputation to maintain! (I know I sounded super snooty there, but it is true.) I told him that I'd receive back to him, SO PLEASE WHAT SHOULD I DO????? Should I reject him, or just suck it up and go to the dance with him?

Resolved Question: Opinions on stand up rods?

I recently got into shark fishing from the shore but it seems I've chosen the wrong rod to meet my needs. I got an 11 foot heavy action ugly stik without really thinking it through that well. I have just learned about stand up rods and i'm interested in one like this http://www.basspro.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10151&catalogId=10001&langId=-1&partNumber=96646&hvarTarget=search&hvarAID=&cmCat=2222206 the 5'6" 50-80 Would a stand up rod be a good choice on the beach (I would be standing no matter what rod I used) What are they like to fish with? Also I kayak my baits out so casting distance isn't a factor.

Resolved Question: What type of Fishing line to use for shark fishing for 2-5 ft sharks?

I'd prefer to use braid, and if I do is it okay to use a hi-vis yellow? And is it also okay to use a mono backing? If so how long? I like to fish on Tybee Island in Savannah, Ga, mostly inshore. Sharks and manta rays are the most common catch. I like to use a 4 ounce sinker on 3ft wire leader with either squid or clip bait. Usually fish rocky shorelines and from bridges with a sandy/dirt bottom. I do not need to cast very far, I like to use a 7ft rod. I like to purchase my fishing supplies at Bass Pro Shops (Atlanta, Macon, Savannah)
